[Paris-London-Dublin 2009]

[Paris-London-Dublin 2009]

For backpackers, expensive than London [Paris-London-Dublin 2009]

Contrary to what I had imagined, the price in Paris is more expensive than London for travelers, though here are lots of cheaper options in flea market and supermarket to reduce my travel cost. In my conclusion, I have two options before the start date of my volunteer in Dublin. The first one is to continue stay here, or the second one is to move to other city. Unfortunately, I have little knowledge and exp in Europe, so I hesitate to decide. The hardest thing for me to stay here is definitely language. Compared even with Asians, Parisian seems not to speak in English well. The only consolation is that I know a famous backpacker limited for Japanese users. The name is "白い門." I am not sure why it is famous among Japanese backpackers. But when I had traveled in Turkey almost 10 years ago(!!), some Japanese strongly recommended it because of the cheapest price(Now 15 euro) in Paris. This hostel has lots of legend(rumors) but nobody around me has confirmed them... The second option is to move to London. This option has three advantages. London is located on the way to Dublin from Paris. People speak in English. And I know the good Korean Guest house in East London. So, I might decide to stay here for more 5 days and then move to London by night bus. Many cheap airlines like Ryanair are also available but I am very anxious about my heavy luggage(almost 25kg). It is supposed to be a little bit risky to board on such airlines(25kg at most). I hate to pay extra fee. So, if I wanna use air, I must cut at least 1kg of my luggage before my move to Dublin. It is possible if I can throw away some documents(almost 3kg) for preparation of exams after memorizing them... Finally, the fact that French museums are not free for visitors, while museums in London are still free even nowadays. The price of French museums seem to be too much high for backpackers like me. Compared with 0.51 euro of a bottle of 33cl beer, 0.8 euro of a whole melon, and 16 euro of weekly metro pass, the average entrance fee in Paris is over 10 euro. Instead, we can buy 2 cases of beer... Since my apartment costs me only 35 euro a day(very reasonable for 2 persons), it is a fact that a half of my expense is just for the entrance fees (two museums a day)... Also it pushes me away that the cheapest ticket from Paris to Dublin via London cost me only 75 euro(by bus and ferry)... On the way to Dublin, I will stay for 4 nights in East London where some "acquaintance" have still lived and stroll in good UK "free" museums.

How should I stay in the expensive cities ? [Paris-London-Dublin 2009]

Now, I am staying in a historical city in Europe. My place is owned by a Japanese dancer who lives here with a governmental support. It supposed to be rational and very common that she lent her own room during her stay in Israel this summer. While I am not sure about this non-English spoken city, here is the most popular in the world, statistically for travelers. There are lots of too much famous historical heritages and museums, so we should bring our textbooks for high school students to check them, with a touch of self-derision, haha. Anew, I have recognized the importance of classics as for arts. Here are well known three museums, however Louvre is much significant and the best of three. We recognized that some important drawings were now sending to Japan. Some visitors looked like very unsatisfied because of lack of such paintings. My relative had stayed together here, but his work could not hold him more days. I appreciate his cooperative attitude for living together and I cannot forget some beautiful cuisines in the one-star restaurant. Stea Maris is very famous because of the chief. While he have three branches in Japan, many Japanese staff have worked here to improve their skills. Because I am just a traveler, I do not know the atmosphere or some "structure" among Japanese residents in this city. However, I am certain that many Japanese are now struggling to get how to cook, paint, think, feel, understand, or write something here. At a restaurant we found out on the famous "Red Book," we met a Japanese young chief looked like very stressful, while he did his responsibilities as just Japanese inside the restaurant. He explained us the menu in Japanese because he could translate from French to Japanese, but we have felt he disliked to do so. We guessed that he would not like to treat as Japanese in his workplace. He might wanna compete only as for tastes. Here has lots of famous paintings and architectures. There are lots of beautiful cuisines and drinks. Also, as one of the international cities in the world, there are several of people living together. While I love much the atmosphere in the "third” world, I cannot avoid to agree with the idea, that is here is a kind of cultural capital in the world.. In addition, this city has a very successful system to lend a bicycle for all on the street, so we can move easily.
